Sewing Classes For All Levels – Join Us

We’re here every step of the way to help you build your skills and pursue your passion

The art of sewing has been around for tens of thousands of years, allowing people to make clothes for themselves. This craft has evolved, but the root idea is still the same even today.

If you’re interested in taking sewing classes, where do you start? Read on for three ways you can get started with classes and improve your sewing game!

Online Beginner Classes

The best place to start is probably with some online sewing classes for beginners. There are a wide variety of classes, instructors, and platforms to choose from, so you have plenty of options!

If you’re still sure whether sewing is the right activity for you, start with some free online sewing classes. Various platforms have beginner sewing classes for free that you can start with to dip your toes in the water. Sometimes you’ll find prerecorded classes, and other times you’ll find instructors willing to offer some basics for free before charging you for more lessons.

And once you’ve tried things out for a while and decided that you enjoy sewing, you can step it up a level and try new platforms or types of classes!

Local Sewing Classes

Your local sewing and crafts groups are a great place to look for some educational courses. Many cities have sewing groups that offer classes and lessons for beginners, as well as more advanced lessons.

Some of these places will charge you for these clubs and lessons, while others will have different payment plans. Some may let you come in and get one free lesson to see how you like it, then charge you for more. Others may charge a flat rate right up front!

The biggest benefit of local classes is that you get people right in the room with you, able to help guide and coach as you need help. Online learning is great, but it helps to have someone in the room with you!

Garment Specific Lessons

Once you know how to sew and feel comfortable using your equipment, you may still need some help. However, you doubtless won’t want to start over at square one with beginner classes and lessons!

That’s why you should look for lessons that cover specific garments, patterns, or sewing skills. Look for local classes for quilting, towels, clothing, or anything else you might be interested in! You’ll be surprised how much there is to learn and how much is out there to help you.

If you’re at this stage in your sewing, you will probably have to expect to pay for some of these classes. While it’s relatively easy to learn the basics for free, some of these advanced techniques are rather tricky, so expect to pay accordingly!
